ESTA facts – As a tourist destination, Seattle doesn’t attract many visitors for its climate. Similar to the United Kingdom, the weather can be rainy and gray. Nevertheless, like London, the city has such a vibrant cultural scene that makes you almost forget about the clouds. Attractions range from museums to trails, markets, concerts, and parks. So if you seek something beyond sunshine and beaches for your next holiday, Seattle is worth considering.

In the following guide, you will find travel information and details about flights from the UK to SEA. We will also share some insights on places to stay and eat, as well as things to do.

ESTA USA Guide – Flying from the UK to Seattle on Holiday without a US visa but with your ESTA USABritish Airways

Located 12 miles outside of Seattle, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is one of the busiest in the United States. Operating since 1947, the facility serves the state of Washington and its surroundings, welcoming both international and domestic flights.

Several companies fly from the UK to Seattle, but only a few of them, including Virgin and British Airways, do so directly. A non-stop journey from London to SEA takes roughly 10 hours. Most flights depart from Heathrow (LHR), some from Gatwick (LGW). Economy one-way fares cost between $250 (promotional) and $450, usually with a stop in Vancouver. A round-trip on economy class, however, starts from $450, departing London Heathrow straight to Seattle International. Business-class customers can expect to pay $1500 for a single ticket with a stopover in Iceland KEF. For a return flight, travelers will pay between $2500 and $4500, depending on the carrier. Virgin and BA run non-stop flights from Heathrow but are at the higher end of the price scale. First-class passengers should avoid purchasing single tickets as they usually cost around $13,000. Instead, British Airways offers direct flights from LHR for as little as $5500.

For those traveling to Seattle from the UK, we have prepared a summary of the best lounges at SEA.

ESTA visa suggestions – Seattle Holiday AccommodationSeattle city image

Seattle is big but well organized. Those who have little time in the city or haven’t rented a car should consider staying around the center. Neighborhoods like Belltown, Lower Queen Anne, Downtown, and South Lake Union are some of the best options.

Downtown Seattle is the center of tourist life in the city. Here you will be at walking distance from the Pike Market, the Piers, the central library, and some great museums. This region also has easy access to public transportation, with trains to the airport and boats that sail around Elliot Bay. If you are looking for a central region with good cost-benefit, Belltown will surely come up in your research. The area is a short walk from Seattle’s top sights and a train ride from downtown.

Lower Queen Anne houses some of Seattle’s classic attractions like the Space Needle and the Chihuly Museum. You will also find plenty of bars, restaurants, breweries, and the beautiful Kerry Park. A little further away from the center is South Lake Union. This can be a good option for those who have a car and want to stay with the locals.

Below is our ESTA Guide list of top hotels in Seattle, ranging from simple 3-stars to deluxe 5-star accommodation.

  • Hampton Inn & Suites (3 Stars)

In the heart of Queen Anne neighborhood lies the Hampton Inn & Suites. This is a great choice for travelers who seek accommodation with a pleasant atmosphere, nice views and restaurants nearby. • Pioneer Square

Locals consider Pioneer Square as Seattle’s most original neighborhood. This historic area filled with charming neo-Renaissance buildings is where the city was founded. Unfortunately, there are few traces of the original buildings since much was destroyed by the great Seattle fire in 1889. Nowadays, the region buzzes with cafes, restaurants, and art galleries. The popular Seattle Underground Tour also departs from Pioneer Square and explores subterranean passageways in this area of the city.

Best Seattle Restaurants

The gastronomic scene in Seattle is varied, ranging from excellent seafood restaurants to mind-blowing pizza joints. Central neighborhoods teem with bars, cafes, restaurants, bistros, pizzerias, and breweries to satisfy all budgets and palates.

Here we have selected some of the best places to eat in Seattle.

  • Serious Pie (Medium Level)

Serious Pie belongs to Chef Tom Douglas’ chain of pizzerias. It serves artisan pizzas with thick crusts and rich toppings baked in a 600-degree wood fire oven. This restaurant prides itself on using fresh and seasonal ingredients, particularly the homemade charcuterie and a wide selection of cheeses. Enjoy dinner by sharing a couple of pizzas and ordering a pint of local craft beer to accompany the meal. A highlight is the seasonal roasted mushrooms with truffle cheese pizza, all enveloped with that distinct woody flavor.

  • Lola (Medium Level)

For those who like the style and flavors of Greek cuisine, this restaurant will not disappoint. Also part of Chef Tom Douglas’ chain of restaurants, Lola features classic products from the Pacific Northwest mixed with Greek culinary hues. The menu offers combinations of Mediterranean and North African flavors with local ingredients such as Bristol Bay wild salmon and Anderson Valley lamb. Besides delicious kebabs, Lola boasts an eclectic brunch-style menu. An all-round favorite is chef Douglas’ breakfast of Mediterranean, peas, onion, fennel, yogurt, and poached eggs on toast. All of this accompanied by a glass of house wine.

  • Nue (Medium Level)

Nue will undoubtedly make for a memorable Seattle dining experience. Not only for the delicious and varied cuisine it offers, but for the history and concept that surrounds the restaurant. The owners are travel aficionados and foodies who have traded corporate professions to dive into their passion for cooking. Therefore, they set out to create a casual environment with great food and drinks similar to what they experienced abroad. You will find exotic and tasty dishes from all around the world, including Brazil, South Africa, Puerto Rico, and Indonesia. Due to its concept, Nue’s menu changes frequently, including and excluding dishes according to the chef’s experiments and discoveries. As part of the process, every year chefs embark on an exploratory trip to bring new ideas into the restaurant’s menu.

  • ESTA recommendation – Relish Burger Bistro (Top Level)seattle-relish-burger-bistro

Relish Burger is a typical bistro with an American touch. Located in Downtown Seattle, the restaurant features different areas and dining alternatives. You can choose to sit at the bar counter and try some of their signature drinks. But if you want a spot with a view, ask for one of their standard tables that overlook 5th Avenue. As the name implies, the Relish specializes in burgers. But be sure to order a portion of French fries and Seattle craft beer to accompany the meal. If you are the traditional type, go for the famous Relish Burger. It comes with grilled beef, smoked bacon, peppercorn cheese, fried onion rings, lettuce, tomatoes, and homemade meat sauce. Not only are the sandwiches presented beautifully, but the chef chooses to use only the highest quality, fresh ingredients.
